The BTL Y-wing starfighter was the primary bomber for the Rebel Alliance, until the B-wing, but still continued to play a pivotal role in the Rebel Fleet. The Y-wing was capable of carrying two pilots, one of which was a gunner. Though the Y-wing was sluggish, it had a heavy hull and powerful shields to make up for the lack of speed. The Y-wing was even used by pirates because of it's roof mounted ion cannon that was used to disable ships.
