A third-person shooter is a video game format where the player shoots sees their character in the Third-person (as if they are observing them from behind). The character appears completely or mostly in front of the camera, allowing the player to watch exactly where the character's feet are and watch them move, roll, jump, etc. Using the third-person format often sacrifices some accuracy, but allows the player to have a better idea of what's going on around him or her.
