A turret was a specialized cannon. Ground turrets were usually fixed to the ground on a swivel platform, or used legs to support itself. Vehicle turrets were usually a ball and socket, allowing it to move in most directions. Turrets were generally used as blaster weapons, but there were some that used rockets and other types of projectiles. A well known ground turret would be the E-Web heavy repeating blaster.

Battlefront Series[]
In the games Star Wars: Battlefront and Star Wars: Battlefront II, turrets are one of the advantages on the battlefield. They can either be partial beam or full beam turrets, but all used blaster weapons. Turrets also vary in shape and size, depending on the location, and differ from in space to on the ground. Space turrets are located on the inside on the capital ship and can be used to shoot down enemy bombers or lower the shield of the enemy capital ship.
Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy[]
In the game Star Wars: Jedi Knight: Jedi Academy, turrets usually come in the form of an E-Web, but there are other, smaller turrets throughout the game. On Hoth, Jaden Korr used an E-Web to take down an AT-ST.
